Carolina CarTrek 2007 was an outdoor, visual arts project that took place from May-October throughout Darlington County, South Carolina, home of the races that later became the NASCAR phenomenon. The project placed twenty fiberglass stock car bodies, (L=88”, W=32”, H=20”), in locations around the county. Artists who ranged from middle school students to professionals embellished these cars. Each car body, treated as an empty canvas, portrays designs that are artistic in nature. No designs resemble any existing NASCAR team auto, nor do they incorporate recognizable sponsor logos or advertising.
